Stereotype

Stereotype is what people think just by the people's (things) image that is showing (appearance). It also can be described as prejudice or bias. It is normally racism or sexual discrimination that causes the stereotypes. For example all the Indians will like the curries, girls are always smarter than boys or all the gangsters are black people and it is not true. These stereotypes causes serious problems cosmopolitanly. Lots of peoples are trying to get rid of the stereotypes but practically you can't really remove that stereotyped point of view. So people have to strive themselves.

What are the characteristics of a bully?

• Confident bullies are Strong and enjoys aggression.
• Anxious bullies have less concentration and weak in academy.
• Bully/victims are the ones that are sometimes assailant and sometimes get bullied by the others.

What are the characteristics of a victims?

• Cautious, sensitive, quiet and shy.
• Anxious, unhappy and insecure.
• Are depressed
• Do not have a single good friend, relate to the adults more than their peers.

Here are the 3 statistics about bullying.

• 10% of students experienced cyber bullying. = 12/120 of Rimu people.
• Around 20% of students experienced text bullying = 24/120 of Rimu people.
• 41% of students experienced physical bullying = 46/120 of Rimu people.

The WIkigame

This morning our class had a go at doing the Wikigame which uses Wikipedia to play the game. I am going to explain how this game works. This game works like this. You have a goal and a topic every single game and you need to find that word with using the links in the article. You need to get less clicking the links because it is more likely to win if you've got less clicks. For example if I got a goal 'presidents' you need to try to find that word with using the links in wikipedia. You are competing with the other players around the world so you need to think quickly and wisely.

Estuary run

Our house is going to do the estuary run because there is cross country later in this term. I will explain how you do this run. You need your running shoes and be careful because it is going to be slippery, bumpy and look out for the water.

1. Run out to the gate and then turn left toward the Grace Road.

2. Keep running until the last speed bump and then cross the road.

3. Go out to the Fifteenth Ave and keep running until you get to Burrows Street.

4. Turn right at the Burrows Street then go into the estuary.

5. Keep following the estuary track and you will get to the Eighteenth Ave.

6. Run up the hill and you will find Tauranga Intermediate.

7. Go through the main gate and your estuary run is finished.

New reward system

From this term, our school started a new click card system. Every class and every person get a stars card and there are 40 clicks per card and your get a click every day. If you get a 40 click you get a band with your house colour and if you get 3 bands you are allowed to get a stars badge. If you're absent you don't get a click but if your are absent and at s2chool(eg. sports, music event etc) you get a click that day. If you got a reliever in your class, you get a click. When you get into trouble you first get a verbal warning. After that you get your name on the board and then get a cross beside your name when you keep behaving badly. Then you get a formal warning by Mrs Mils.

The other thing that our school is doing from this term is the new stars card system. It is just like a golden ticket but there is a new reward system. When you get a stars card from the teacher, go to the library, name them and then put it into the Rimu box. Every house hui Mrs Mils picks out the tickets for the vouchers. Every term Mrs Colvile will draw out one ticket each from each house then they will get a stars hoodie.
